Program Overview

The AITREC Digital Forensics and Expert Witness Certification Program is a hands-on, professional training designed to equip IT and cybersecurity professionals with the skills to conduct digital investigations, analyze evidence, and serve as expert witnesses in legal proceedings. This program integrates technical, investigative, and legal knowledge, ensuring participants understand both the technical aspects of digital forensics and the legal requirements for presenting evidence in court.

Through interactive labs and real-world case studies, participants gain practical experience in forensic investigation, evidence collection, data analysis, and expert testimony. The curriculum aligns with internationally recognized standards such as ISO/IEC 27037, ISO/IEC 27041, NIST forensic guidelines, and Kenya’s Data Protection Act, ensuring relevance for professionals working in both African and global contexts.

Upon successful completion, participants will be prepared for careers such as Digital Forensics Analyst, Cybercrime Investigator, IT Security Consultant, or Court Expert Witness.

Digital Forensics

• Foundations of Digital Forensics – Principles, investigative process, and chain of custody

• Evidence Collection & Preservation – Digital evidence acquisition from computers, mobile devices, and cloud systems

• Forensic Analysis Techniques – File recovery, malware analysis, network traffic analysis, and forensic tool utilization

• Incident Response & Investigation – Handling security incidents, breach investigations, and forensic reporting

• Cloud, Mobile, and IoT Forensics – Investigating data across modern technologies, including cloud storage and IoT devices

Expert Witness and Legal Skills

• Legal Frameworks & Compliance – Kenya Data Protection Act, GDPR, and other regulatory requirements for evidence handling

• Expert Witness Roles – Court procedures, report writing, testimony, and presenting technical findings to legal professionals

• Ethical Considerations & Professional Standards – Ethics in investigations, professional conduct, and forensic certifications

• Case Studies & Simulation – Real-world scenarios for courtroom preparation, cross-examination practice, and expert reporting

Duration:The program follows a blended, self-paced e-learning format and can be completed within two months, depending on your level of engagement.

Discounted Training

Participants are required to pay USD 320 (KES 40,000) to cover the AITREC Cybersecurity Professional Training and certification fees.

Certification

Participants who successfully complete the program and submit all required lab reports will receive the AITREC Certified Digital Forensics and Expert Witness Professional. The certification validates practical forensic skills, legal knowledge, and readiness to serve as an expert witness, enhancing career opportunities in digital forensics, cybercrime investigation, and IT security roles. It is recognized across Africa and internationally.

Lead Trainer – Dr. Stanley Githinji, PhD

Dr. Stanley Githinji is a renowned expert in digital forensics and cyber investigations with over 18 years of experience in Information Security, Forensics and Cyberscurity and Dataprotection research.  He holds a Ph.D. in Information Systems from the University of South Africa, an MSc in IT Security and Audit from Strathmore University, a BSc in Applied Computer Science from Daystar University, and a Certificate in Instructional Design for Online Classes from Arizona State University.

Dr. Githinji has extensive experience consulting and training professionals in both the private and public sectors, equipping them with practical skills in digital forensics, expert witness testimony, cybersecurity investigations, and legal evidence management. He has led programs on forensic frameworks, investigative procedures, regulatory compliance including Kenya’s Data Protection Act and global standards and effective online learning delivery. He is a member of the Kenya Cyber Security & Forensics Association (KCSFA), further reinforcing his standing as a leading authority in integrating technical expertise with legal, compliance, and instructional excellence.

The objective of the AITREC Masterclass Cybersecurity Program is to provide hands-on skills and credentials you need to become an expert in this rapidly growing domain.

Training & Certification Fee: 

The training and certification fee is 1,200 USD per course. The fee includes training materials, meals incurred during training, Gala Dinner for AITREC Masterclass Cybersecurity certificate award ceremony.

CERTIFICATION

Upon successful completion of the program, you will be awarded a Masterclass Cyber Security Certificate for the courses that you have been trained.

AITREC Cybersecurity Professional training program was created in accordance to NIST and ISO/IEC 27001 SGS Standards. Upon successful completion of the program, you will be awarded a globally recognized AITREC Certified Cyber Security Certificate.
